PM Narendra Modi, along with senior officers, made a surprise visit to Ladakh at a forward position in Nimu after a clash with the Chinese troops.On July 3, 2020, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi traveled to Nimu in Ladakh to interact with Indian troops and paid them his respects. The Prime Minister met the top leaders of the Indian Army and later associated with personnel of the Army, Air Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The situation at the India-China border remained tense after twenty Indian soldiers lost their lives in a violent face-off in the Galwan valley on June 15-16.
