The asteroid 1998 OR2, 1.5-mile-wide will passes about 3.9 million miles close to the earth in 2020.Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking program at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory discovered an asteroid 1998 OR2 in July 1998. This asteroid is being tracked by the astronomers from past two decades. It is a 1.5-mile-wide (2-kilometer-wide) and will pass no closer than about 3.9 million miles (6.3 million kilometres) which is known as a close approach to earth by astronomers. Scientists have also said that its next approach to earth will be in 2079.
A team of experts has been monitoring this near-Earth asteroid from Arecibo Observatory, a National Science Foundation facility managed by the University of Central Florida.
