External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj participated in the 16th World Sanskrit Conference in Bangkok and gave an inaugural speech in Sanskrit.The 16th World Sanskrit Conference (WSC) was held from June 28 to July 2, 2015, in Bangkok. Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had attended the conference and also delivered an inaugural speech. She spoke to more than 600 Sanskrit experts entirely in Sanskrit. She also cited Sanskrit slokas in the conference. Swaraj was the guest of honor in WSC in Bangkok.

Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani had attended its closing ceremony on July 2, 2015. The Ministry of HRD partly funded it.
