Six Bahujan Samaj Party MLAs have joined the Indian National Congress in Rajasthan. In September 2019, six Members of the Legislative Assembly from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), met Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi and handed over a letter informing him of joining the Indian National Congress. It resulted in the Ashok Gehlot-led government's increase of numbers as the Congress tally has 107 in the House of 200.
On August 17, 2020, the Supreme Court deferred the hearing on a plea by a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA seeking a stay on the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker's decision allowing the merger of the BSP MLAs with the Congress.
