
The election commission has seized a total of ₹183.97 crores in West Bengal from the date of notification until the first phase of elections.
The poll panel had made elaborate arrangements for conducting elections with transparency and without any inducement like money, liquor, and freebies by the political parties. The Model code of conduct was in place to stop any poll code violations. As part of the exercise to ensure free and fair polls, the election commission made a record seizure of Rs. 281.28 Crore in both the states of Assam and West Bengal. The record seizure was achieved during the first phase of the elections itself.
