Fourteen medical officers resigned and alleged that the Unnao district administration verbally harassed and threatened them. On May 12, 2021, fourteen doctors who worked at community and primary health care centers in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, resigned. According to media reports, they alleged misbehavior and harassment by administration officers. Out of the fourteen, four were superintendents of community health centers, while ten were in charge of primary health care centers.

They submitted their resignation letters to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on May 12, 2021. They forwarded a copy of their resignation letters to the additional chief secretary (health), director general (health), and other senior officers. According to The Economic Times, CMO Ashutosh Kumar refuted all the claims and said all the doctors have returned to their work.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, one of the fourteen doctors, told The Indian Express that they were falsely accused of not working responsibly and regularly harassed by administrative officials, despite working round the clock. The doctors told The Hindu that they were not provided medicines by the government and were harassed by the CMO.

The District Magistrate (DM) Ravindra Kumar told The Hindu that he would hold a meeting with the fourteen doctors to resolve the issue on May 13, 2021. The doctors told The Economic Times that they would decide their next step after their meeting. There have been no further updates on the meeting.
