Chennai Super Kings paid tribute to the Indian armed forces by featuring camouflage on their jersey for the 2021 Indian Premier League(IPL).The Chennai Super Kings(CSK) unveiled their new-look jersey on March 24, 2021, for the upcoming season of the IPL, which began on April 9, 2021. As an appreciation to the country's armed forces, a new jersey features camouflage along with two "gold bands" on the shoulder and three stars atop the franchise logo. The three stars reflect the three championships won by the team in 2010, 2011, and 2018 and the gold band signifies the high standards set by CSK "both in terms of consistency and fair play."
The team's major sponsors whose logos appear on the jersey include Myntra, India Cements Limited, Gulf, Nippon Paint, SNJ, and Astral Pipes.
CSK CEO KS Viswanathan said, "It has been on our mind for some time now to find ways to raise awareness about the significant and selfless role of the armed forces. The camouflage is an appreciation of their service... they are the true heroes". Since the inaugural edition in 2008, this is the first time the jersey has been redesigned.
