Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation chief, Iqbal Chahal said more than 10,000 people were evacuated from unsafe localities due to cyclone Nisarga.The IMD had warned of a possible landfall of a cyclone called Nisarga in Maharashtra and Gujarat on 3 June 2020. BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal visited Nehru Science Centre to take stock of the situation and to check on its preparedness including anti-flooding measures and to ensure that the city was prepared for the cyclone. He also urged Mumbaikars to avoid stepping out from home. The residents from areas closer to the sea and from unsafe localities were relocated to safer facilities.
