First Lady Melania Trump unveiled the first renovation in nearly 60 years of the White House Rose Garden on August 22, 2020. Melania Trump, Honorary Chair of the Committee for the Preservation of the White House (CPWH), was accompanied by The President, Vice President, Second Lady, members of the CPWH, Administration officials, and other key partners who had contributed to the project.

The iconic space had been used as a backdrop for her speech to the Republican National Convention on August 26, 2020.

The Rose Garden had been under construction since late last month for the redesigning of the plantings and the placement of new limestone walkways as well as to include updates to the technological elements of the space.
