Fifty lakh Pfizer vaccine doses are expected to be delivered to India by October 2021.

The Indian government is still negotiating with Pfizer over vaccine supplies to India. The final approval for vaccine supply is awaited.

The Indian government is still negotiating with Pfizer over vaccine supplies to India. The final approval for vaccine supply is awaited. The second wave of COVID-19 has badly affected India as the number of deaths stays high. India's death toll is the 3rd highest in the world. Amid this, there is a shortage of vaccines in the country, with many health centers saying there are no enough doses to vaccinate the large population. India's vaccine manufacturers are not able to keep up with the increasing demand for vaccines. The government had recently expanded the vaccination drive to include everyone above 18 years.

Sources have confirmed that the Indian government is now looking for new vaccine suppliers to supply in large quantities. Pfizer has reportedly told that it can supply 50 million doses by October this year. However, the negotiations are still on as the company demands indemnity from any legal action in India. The officials have said that the issue is still not resolved and will be cleared in some time.
