Statement by Rebecca Shipley, Director of Healthcare Engineering at UCL confirms that more than 2000 COVID-19 patients are receiving CPAP in Lombardy.Trending News 365 and Pos reported that Professor Rebecca Shipley, Director of University College London (UCL) Institute of Healthcare Engineering, told the BBC that Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) was being used for more than 2000 COVID-19 patients at Lombardy in Italy. The CPAP reduces the effort needed to breathe in, especially when the alveoli have collapsed as a result of COVID-19. It pushes a steady flow of air-oxygen mix into the mouth and nose of patients.
