A website claimed that three U.S. states had canceled CNN's broadcasting license. These claims are baseless and were written in a satirical context. On August 4, 2020, America's Last Line of Defense published an article positing that three states with Republican governors Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana, have pulled CNN's broadcasting license due to their failure to be truthful.

It stated that CNN had a long history of spreading lies and half-truths and that CNN and has to pay the price for its dishonesty as state governments are starting to take action. It also claimed that Chad Benoit, the Attorney General of Mississippi, gave these statements at a press conference announcing the decision to pull CNN's license in the state.
