According to a report by the National Academies Press, some studies have estimated that 10–20% of veterans returning from OEF and OIF have traumatic brain injury due to a blast from improvised explosive devices which results in numerous physical and mental health outcomes, such as traumatic brain injury in the veterans.
The study published by Molecular Psychiatry says that approximately 10–20% of veterans returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan sustained mild traumatic brain injury resulting from the shockwaves emitted from blast exposures especially those related to improvised explosive devices.
