An image of an under-construction Kashi Vishwanath corridor project in Varanasi was falsely linked to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. An image circulating on social media with a caption falsely claimed it was the construction of the Ram temple construction in Ayodhya. The viral under-construction image is of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The image was captured during the making of the corridor in October this year. The image was originally published in the Hindustan Times on Oct. 30, 2020 showing the main entrance of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which was under construction.

The Corridor Project is aimed to expand the Kashi Vishwanath temple, which is expected to complete by August 2021. Prime minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the project in March 2019. Construction of the Ram temple is yet to commence with several delays over the past few months, most recently because experts found loose sand a few feet deep into ground site. Members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust formed to oversee the project, had earlier decided to begin the actual construction by October 15.
