During June 2018 SHEIN fashion retailer's servers suffered a major cyberattack which affected 6.42 million customers' online store accounts.Hackers broke the back doors of the server in the shop and created an entry point to implant the malware which had stolen e-mail addresses and encrypted passwords of customers. The company said that there is no evidence to suggest that hackers had extracted the payment card details since the servers do not store such kinds of information. In the mid of September 2018, the company started to notify affected customers via e-mail and requested to change their passwords.
